History
Born Anita Alvarez on May 5, 2364, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Puerto Rican father is a dance instructor, Mexican mother manages a restaurant that the family owns, Casa Alvarez. Anita is the sixth of nine children. One brother works on Luna as a shuttle mechanic, and Anita is the only other one to leave Earth.
You can't really know Anita without knowing the whole Alvarez family:
Marco and Juanita Ramirez Alvarez - Daddy and Mama; and the brothers and sisters: in order; Carlos, Jorge, Donna, Maria, Emilio (sometimes known by his middle name, Ramon), Anita, Rita, Raul and Esteban.
Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida, 2385. Graduated Starfleet Academy, 2389. First assignment, Starbase 133, then USS Arakov, then Valkyrie.
Married USS Valkyrie CONN officer Emile Schofield 2393.01.17. Was kidnapped along with three other Valkyrie crew members by the Breen privateer, Gangron. They were rescued by the Valkyrie, but Emile was lost and presumed dead.
Emile later returned, but as a would-be conqueror known as The Chosen One. He had been brainwashed by Gangron's chief scientist, a Vorta named Tusen. Emile recovered and was offered a position with Starfleet Intelligence. He is now based on Earth.
The couple has one daughter, Pearl, and another adopted daughter, Lil'ana Lauvell.
Anita was briefly promoted to LtJG and named CSO of the Valkyrie. She was stripped of her rank and position after slapping the Captain, and is again an Ensign.
Psychological Profile
Happy, upbeat, outgoing. Has 'Mother Hen' complex; likes to be deeply involved in others' lives. Likes to push herself and take on responsibilities, but realistic about her limitations. Gets very emotionally involved with people and situations. Tends to take everything personally. Sometimes can be very self-absorbed. At her worst, is opinionated and bossy.

Notes
Anita deeply loves her family, and misses them, but has an unquenchable curiosity. This led her to study science and join Starfleet. Her hunger for home and family causes her to superimpose them on her friends and co-workers; they become her siblings and parents.
